Daniel is an amazing person and a super talent designer. Being a photographer I often get talk about photography with other photographers so it was great to be able to talk with someone creative that does not use a camera. The main building material that Daniel uses is recycled cork. Both me and my wife love the work he does.

Chefwear catalogs

Back in July 2010 I was in Philadelphia doing a shoot for Chefwear. They are the top company that makes chef clothing. They release a catalog each month, just like a magazine. All the cover images I shot along with all the photos of the chefs. I'm posting this now because most of the catalogs have come out. Last week I was down in New Orleans shooting the next catalog for them. I can't say enough great things about working with them.

Did a portrait of Nolan Shaheed for Runner's World, December 2010 issue. The shoot was great and Nolan is a fast runner, really fast. For him a basic run is around 12 miles. He has set 5 world running records since turning 50.

Nick Howard "Falling For You" music video

I had the great opportunity to work with Nick Howard on the music video for his single "Falling For You" Nick and I had similar ideas going into the filming. I shot, directed and edited the video and really feel it is exactly what I envisioned. All the elements were on our side, we got a couple of great days for shooting down at the beach and the actor and actress were perfect! You can view it here on Nick's YouTube page.

Back in June I got an assignment to photograph Mary Lou and her grandson Alec for Guideposts magazine. The story was great, she wanted to reconnect with her grandson so she helped with his school production of 'Grease' We shot in Torrance and being a typical So Cal summer it was overcast and actually breezy but the energy of every involved helped to get some great images.

Went down to Baltimore to do a shoot with the band Fools & Horses. I did their promo shots last year, which went really good, so it was a lot of fun to work with them again. They really bring a lot of energy and fun to the shoot.

Did a portrait of Rodina Mikhail, an artist that moved to the USA from Egypt. I was really impressed with her work. She uses plastics to create her pieces. I really can't explain how she does it so that's why I'm including one of her pieces, this one was 4 feet by 4 feet. This series is on Cairo, her hometown.

4 bands in 5 days

I got booked to shoot 4 different bands within 5 days. 3 bands were shot in studio in NYC and one band was shot on location in Providence, RI. Each band has a totally different style of music and they all were great to work with.

The first band was Man on Earth and the shoot was on Feb 6th.

The second band was HOWL and the shoot was on Feb 9th.

The third band was The Auctioneers and the shoot was on Feb 10th.

And the fourth band was Dive and the shoot was on Feb 10th as well.

Finally, the Rix magazine came out and yes, the car I shot made the cover and it looks good!! My first full cover photo ever...and it's a car. Not bad for a portrait photographer.
It's the car of my buddy Michael Wasserman. We did the shoot last year in August. I have only seen the online image and hope to get a copy of the magazine soon.

On Dec 01, spent a few hours in the cold, early morning filming for a short film that I'm working on. It is a sports based film focusing on the motivation needed each day to reach your goals.
Staring is William Coleman who did an amazing job. He followed every direction that I gave him and he brought a lot of energy to his role. I also had some help from Chris Gonzales. He drove the car while I hung out the window with the camera in hand, to get the moving clips. He saved me from driving and filming at the same time, which I'm sure is illegal in NYC.

This shoot was a lot of fun. The weather was perfect and the model had tons of energy. Fitness models go through a lot on a shoot, I had her running back and forth numerous times and at one point I think she did over 50 push ups, non-stop.

This was one of those shoots where I saw the final image in my head very clearly, but I had to work to make it happen. We had to move quickly since there was a threat of rain the whole day and we had to kick some kids off the court while we shot, but in the end it all came together.

On September 7th for the first time ever, I did a car shoot. Overall it was not as difficult as I thought it would be. We did the shoot at an abandoned airport field which was a great location for this. There were some broken down buildings which made for cool backdrops and being in the middle of an air strip while shooting was awesome. Everyone on the set was fun to work with and I am very happy with the results.

Should I have him with headphones, with some records or a turntable? Instead of bringing props into the photo we decided to find a few cool locations and after I showed him the first shot I knew we were going to have a good shoot.

I took a couple of days this summer to shoot using just my camera. I know that sounds weird but usually I bring a couple of lights with, especially outside, and I always use them. Brooklyn Bridge

It was during mid March that I spent a couple hours hanging out on the Brooklyn Bridge with Nikki, an international model that was in town for a few days. Believe it or not it was super crowded that day and a few of the bike riders crossing the bridge came really close to not only getting in the photos, but came really close to knocking us over.

I've seen Slipknot live a few times before and even though I'm not much of a live event shooter, I was given the opportunity to shoot them at Madison Square Garden. I was super excited to be at the front of the stage taking photos, plus it was my first time at MSG and what a awesome way to spend the first time there. The show was great and I got some great photos.

On Sunday, October 19th I headed out to Jackson, NJ to take team photos of a top paintball team. Watching the action during their tournament I was totally jealous. I wanted to drop my camera and jump in. They were a great group of guys and they told me next time they would bring some extra gear for me to try it out.

On September 26th did a music promo shoot with MC/songwriter Hillz of NYC. He brought a really cool vibe to the set. Even though it was his first real photo shoot he was able to handle the many outfit changes and set ups. Styling was done by the talented Amanda Frolio. I haven't worked with Amanda in over a year and it was great to have her talent on the shoot.

Spend the afternoon of this past Wednesday watching the team from the High School for Environmental Studies in NYC play some soccer. When the game was done I did some portraits of a few of the players. Only one stray soccer ball hit my lights but good thing nothing broke. That's part of the fun of shooting around the action.

Long Island METAL

Spent yesterday shooting a cool metal band, Raised Without. We were shooting out in Ronkonkoma, NY which was the farthest east that I've been on Long Island. Not only did we get kicked out of the first location by some annoying neighbors we had 2 cop cars show up at the last location. I think the cops were metal fans cause they let us keep shooting.
After the shoot the band jammed a couple of songs which was an awesome way to end a shoot.

Seventeen Magazine Fashion Van photo shoot

Friday August 15th shot with Seventeen magazine for their Dec 2008 issue. The shoot was for their Fashion Van story. This was a really fun shoot. Basically they bring a big RV with a bunch of different dresses, shoes and accessories and head to a local high school. 11 girls were chosen and they get to pick out an outfit, get their hair and makeup done and then get photographed for the magazine. Hair was done by Tyler Laswell for contactnyc.com and make up was done by Christine Fulwiler for contactnyc.com And of course the Seventeen crew was amazing as always.
The forecast for the day was 80% rain with high winds and possible hail. Somehow the sun was out for the majority of the shoot and after the very last shot the wind picked up and within an hour it was pouring. We totally lucked out with the weather and got some great photos.

Kanji clothing shoot

On August 4th spent the day shooting with a great new client. Kanji (www.kanjiusa.com) We had 3 super hard working models that were constantly changing outfits. Keeping up with the models was Johnny G., an awesome hair & make up artist that kept the guys looking good.
We ended up shooting almost a hundred looks before lunch showed up. Everyone on the shoot was working together like a machine. We had a great flow going and had a fun time too. Images will be used on their website, in their Look Book and for store promotions.

Spent Saturday August 2nd shooting a great new R&B artist Lee Charm for his upcoming magazine & web promotion. Had some great help from stylists Chanda Renee (www.chandarenee.com) and Nimonica Wellington. Hair and make up was done by Natasha Renee.

On Friday July 25th spent the day in a really awesome location in Soho shooting for Seventeen magazine. All the girls that were modeling for the day did a great job. The hair and make up was from Contact NYC and they totally brought some major talent to the shoot. And of course the team from Seventeen was great, I think they brought 8 inters to the shoot who all helped out and a couple even had to stand in when I checked the lighting.

Today was Go Skateboard Day 2008 and it was crazy down at the Brooklyn Banks. It seemed like a thousand kids down there and it was awesome.
